2020 In Review from The Front Porch

Sitting on the front porch in reflection today after taking a journey down memory lane on a major thoroughfare in my city. Turning right onto the street as I ride looking in amazement at how much has changed over the years since my last visit, I couldn’t believe how much time has passed. I remembered as I approached the spot that was now an empty space there used to stand the trade school that I attended 40 years ago. With so many possibilities ahead of me at 23 years old and surviving as a single mother with three beautiful children, coming out of a divorce. I had nothing but hopes, dreams and ambitions to what all of the possibilities that laid ahead of me could be. I accomplished all of my goals and made many shifts and turns in decisions and choices since then. It was unbelievable to me in this moment that 40 years have passed since that moment.

Time is something that can be taken for granted, wealth and health is another experience that can change in any moment.  We as a nation have really been able to experience this in the last few years personally and collectively. My hopes are that we the people can break down some of the divides in the years, months and days to come to recognize how dear and precious every moment in our life can be.

I’ve had the opportunity over the last 50 years to realize the similarities in our lives more so than the divide. I have had the wonderful opportunity of getting to know people from several different walks in life different from my own which has caused me to have great moments of reflection. I realized early on that we are much more than the very embodiment that we embrace, that we all are the very breath that comes from Source. We are as an embodiment created from the very dust that we all have treaded upon within our immediate families as well as all those that have traveled before us. The very blood that has flowed from the veins of everyone that has stepped upon the soil is where the source of our nourishment is grown from, which makes all of us truly related more than we realize. When we understand that the nutrients and the minerals in the nourishment for these bodies was generated from the very soil that blood has been shared upon which carries the memories of all people... The story becomes much bigger.  The very DNA that flows through all of us connects all of us to the history of our land. We truly are The People more than we realize. We are connected on so many more levels than we will ever understand completely.

Do we really know who we are when we continue to divide ourselves by our personalities, which simply are only a make up of our minute experiences in our journey? Do we really know who we are just by the connections to our families and our communities? There are enough questions to cause us to pause and breathe. We have to recognize that we are so much more connected than we’ve ever even thought about. That is one of the reasons that I have such a great appreciation for stillness.  This time that we’re in has given us that stillness even when we continue to fight against it. I would like to encourage everyone to be still and reflect on the question... do we really know who we are or are we just playing a game from our memories?

I am wishing Us all wellness, health, wealth and more importantly an understanding deeply from within as to who “We The People” truly are. Blessings to you all. Enjoy every breath!
