Driving The Bus

Reflecting on the front porch about years of being the driver of the bus. I can remember my first job at 16 years old driving the school bus. From there advancing on at 21...driving the city bus...from there at 27 driving a tractor trailer truck and the rest is her story.

Many times in my history I’ve wondered where this being the driver came from? However, there is something about the view not being blocked when you are the driver but it also comes with a lot of responsibility. I’ve met many people in my life that have never wanted to be the driver of the bus they just wanted to sit back and ride.

I’ve had the bounty of coming across many wise souls in my life simply because of being the driver of my own bus per se. I’ve often heard when the student is ready the teacher will appear. I think I have always been willing to travel wherever I need to go in order to find the answers that I seek. Teachers have always popped up along the way giving me tidbits or instructions or you may say...directions along my way.

I remember one soul I met in my truck driving school, he said to me, “just remember Brenda, you’re driving this truck is not just about driving the truck.” I never forgot about that tidbit of information in my years following that advice. I always tried to look deeper in the realities of where I traveled, what I learned, what I observed and how I ended up Integrating all of these wonderful ingredients to bring my life to where it has in the unfolding of my understandings. You know there is no Destiination that does not bring you to an endpoint, whether it’s where you desire to be or not...it is what it is and it’s for you to decipher that part of the journey.

I realized in this journey everyone will not be a driver that is why there are many more seats on the bus than the one that you sit in. It is the knowing who we are and where we sit that determines our part...every part is important but for me I will continue to be the driver I’m sure because I always want to know the Destination and the endgame.
