Hate Is A Choice
Today, November 9, 2024 is the first day that I’ve been able to articulate my feelings since November 6, 2024. I woke up at 2:30 in the morning November 6 to have to go to the hospital for a family emergency that lasted three days and the aftermath is not over yet. I woke up to the possible outcome of the most important election in America since I was born 68 years ago. It was not the results that I had hoped for that I had worked for my entire life not only by the way I lived my life, but actively being involved in the race unity work in this country all my life.
My life was touched and forever changed at eight years old when I heard the words and the voice of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., his speech the message from his view on the mountain top of what our society could become set itself in my heart and soul to strive for this destiny of America and I still believe in his vision. This hatred and division that I have witnessed in this country, all of my life will never steal, that vision that I embraced many years ago. I may not be here when we get there, but I have the blessing of 14 grandchildren that if any one of them is able to witness this great day, it will be a blessing to my soul. I will never stop telling the stories to my grandchildren, I will never discourage them regardless of what this world looks like, but I will only encourage them that the possibility is real.
For those that think that their world can only be successful and happy by keeping others down and removing all possibilities from others lives to have the most happy existence, I can only say that their happiness will never prevail in this selfish attitude because it is built on a big lie. I turned from my grandmother’s Southern Baptist Church at the age of 15 when I spoke out publicly against a congregation that showed blatant bigotry, and it prevented me from ever returning back to a Christian church.
I have never had any ill feelings against Christians that truly display their faith in a way that is all inclusive of people from every walk of life however, blatant bigotry and racism and division is not symbolic of Jesus Christ. My spirit showed me that many years ago, and I have been able to receive my spiritual nourishment in so many other places throughout my life by diligently, researching and studying all religions, and the one thing that I know that we have in common is that we all are One In the eyes of the Most High. All religions come to the table on one accord in this truth it is the followers that draw other conclusions with misconceptions, and we are too far down the road of history to return back to ignorance and bigotry. However, fear, misinformation and worshiping false idols will lead to nothing but confusion in the minds of people that do not do their own personal investigation of truth. People of faith have always been encouraged to search for truth, not to be followers of men and for those that do not know that they have yet to figure it out.
This is a sad day for America and the world. We have been a great country that has made great strides towards the oneness of humanity, and recognizing the damage that we have done to so many others in the past by not being obedient to the truth of a living God. We have a large population of people that don’t identify with just one race or idealism of any kind. We have various Faiths that has sat across from each other at the table and accepted the oneness of humanity. I pray that at this time in history, we will find the strength and the courage to unite together in various Faiths, in various cultures of various identifications of any kind and stand up against this big lie and idealism of separatism, to support one another to reclaim the real America that represents all the people from every walk of life, that has truly built this great country together .
It is time for us to be united together in this Great Country to flourish for the next generation, for our children and our grandchildren and their children and legions of others to follow.
We owe this to those that come after us to be able to flourish, to be free of bigotry and hatred and division, and we have to remember that the windshield of any vehicle is much larger on purpose than the rearview mirror. It is for a much bigger view and we have to appreciate that, we owe that to the next generation . My fellow citizens of this great United States of America this is our purpose and we must remember that “Hate is a Choice!” Let’s choose something far greater together!
